Parent and toddler piano lessons

Developing Life-long Musical Skills

Teaching very young children is a challenging yet very rewarding part of my teaching practice. Whilst I generally offer piano lessons to children aged 6 or upwards, I do provide mother and toddler tuition in order to support parents in developing their young child's musicality.

Lessons generally last 20-30 minutes and I adapt a range of resources that are engaging and stimulating for both mother and child. You do not have to have any previous knowledge or ability as a pianist, as I focus on equipping you with the skills you need to help your child on his or her musical journey; quite often I find that parents themselves end up having a lesson on their own! For much of the lesson, your little one will sit on your lap at the piano, with you leading them to investigate the keyboard, as well as becoming familiar with the key musical elements of pulse, rhythm and pitch.

Every child is different, and the pace and length of the lesson will always take this into account. At the end of each session, I will summarise the learning that has taken place and set some tasks to practise until the next lesson.
